Results For The Best Teeth Whitening Products

Here are the best teeth whitening products

TOOTHPASTES:

To test the toothpastes I used them twice per day for 3 weeks. There were only two that made my teeth whiter and they were the Colgate Fluoride Baking Soda and Peroxide Whitening Toothpaste, and the AP-24 Whitening Toothpaste. The others either maintained the current look of my teeth, or made them more yellow.

Colgate: Colgate Toothpaste

The Colgate made my teeth whiter, but at a slow pace. I would say after the 3 week trial, my teeth became 1 or 2 shades whiter. Which isn't bad at all.

Cost: $3.99

Where to Buy: Wal-Mart, Target, CVS, any grocery store

AP-24 Toothpaste:

AP-24 Whitening Toothpaste

The AP-24 made my teeth whiter at a pace I actually noticed. After about 9 days I noticed a dramatic difference, my teeth were easily 3 or 4 shades whiter. After 3 weeks of use, my teeth became so white that I don't think they could get whiter without professional bleaching.

Cost: $10.93

Home teeth whitening kits are some of the worst teeth whitening products because of their harsh effects on the gums and teeth. They make teeth really sensitive, and if you leave the goo on too long it'll burn your gums. The rembrandt did work but it's really not worth the side effects.

MOUTHWASHES:

Both the Hydrogen Peroxide and the Listerine Pre-Brush Rinse did work. The interesting thing I found were that they both had the same fizzing action going on, and slightly the same taste... hmmm, I think I know what the main ingredient is in the Listerine!

Peroxide:

Hydrogen Peroxide
To test the mouthwashes, I used them twice per day with the AP-24 toothpaste for 3 weeks. The Peroxide worked great; you get a fresh clean mouth and shinier teeth. Many of the teeth whitening products have Hydrogen Peroxide inside of it; so the results actually don't surprise me.

Cost: $.50 - $1.50

Where to Buy: Wal-Mart, Target, CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, or any grocery store.

How to Use: Mix half peroxide, half water into a cup, or an empty mouthwash container, or something you can fill up and keep in the bathroom with your mixture. Swish around in your mouth for 30 to 45 seconds; and then brush.

Listerine Mouthwash:

Listerine Whitening

The Listerine Pre-Brush whitening rinse worked as well. They actually worked the same. The only difference is you can taste a little fluoride in the Listerine, which does promote great gum health. However if you're using the AP-24 and flossing, and do this at least twice per day, having that extra dose of fluoride won't make too great a difference.

I would just save my money and get the peroxide. It will last way longer than the Listerine would and works just the same.

Cost: $5.99 - $9.25

Where to Buy: Wal-Mart, Target, CVS, or any grocery store

FLOSS:

To test the floss I used them with the Colgate Advanced for 2 weeks each. You may be surprised to find out that the floss that contributes most to whitening teeth is the regular Johnson & Johnson Mint Wax floss. Not only is it the best but it's the cheapest!

The other flossing products were very uncomfortable and difficult to work with. The silk floss made me bleed everytime; and the whitening floss hurt from being so thick, and was really messy.

Flossing is one of the most important teeth whitening products. It removes the plaque and bacteria from in between the teeth which no mouthwash or toothbrush can get to, and supposedly it adds a few extra years to your lifespan (interesting huh?). So for the whitest teeth, make flossing a part of your daily routine.

Johnson & Johnson's Reach:

Johnson & Johnson Reach Floss

This floss is as basic as it gets. It's waxed with a mint flavor. The wax allows the floss to be comfortable between teeth, and also allows for a good grip. This floss has been the most effective at removing plaque and cleaning my teeth than all the other more expensive flosses out there.

Cost: $.89 - $1.39

Where to Buy: Wal-Mart, Target, CVS (Though I find more expensive) or any grocery store

How to use: I always floss last, but you can do it before brushing as well.

So there you have it. To have the naturally brightest smile, the best teeth whitening products to use are:
  • AP-24 Toothpaste twice a day
  • Flossing with Johnson & Johnson's Reach at least once
  • Rinsing before each brush with peroxide and water.
